★ requested。" pet sitter!taehyun and puppy hybrid!reader " from my darling @jenomov
notes from lia。i'm not the biggest fan of how this turned out, for some reason i find hybrid!reader difficult to write... but i hope you all enjoy it!!!
“hyung, what do i do?” taehyun whispers urgently into his phone, sat ramrod-straight against the back of the couch. his leg bounces nervously, free hand white knuckling the armrest as if it were the only thing keeping him upright— it very well could be with how you were clambering on top of him.
“taehyunnie, just once, please? i promise i’ll be a good girl!” you whine into his ear, nails scratching desperately at his soccer jersey. your soft puppy ears tickle his tan skin.
“holy shit, is that her?” soobin’s voice crackles over the receiver, sounding more amused than anything. “i’ve never heard her talk like that before. aww, she sounds so sad…”
“hyung.” taehyun grits his teeth. “i’m being serious. you gotta come back, i don’t know what to do— i knew i shouldn’t have agreed to watch her, i told you i don’t know a damn thing about hybrids!”
“are you sure she’s in heat?” came soobin’s reply.
“are you serious?! do you think i’m stupid? she’s dripping all over my fucking lap.”
it was a sight that taehyun was sure would stay with him for the rest of his life. those tight little shorts you were wearing did nothing to stop the outpour of slick dribbling down your thighs, soaking through your clothes to the point they’ve molded themselves against the curves of your ass and pussy. you grind your cunt down hard and desperate against his jean-clad thigh, rubbing your clit against the rough fabric and leaving a large noticeable wet spot in the denim. it was obscene, like some dirty fantasy from the recesses of his imagination come to life. taehyun could feel his sanity chipping away bit by bit every agonizing second he sat there like an idiot watching you seduce and defile him. as much as he tried to will it away, his cock was growing so hard that it was starting to get painful, the throbbing shaft straining against his fly as if it were trying to burst through. he could tell from the glee on your face that you could feel it against your thigh.
but you were soobin’s no matter how hard his dick got, even if he was the one that you were begging for. the fingers of his free hand shake with the effort it took for him not to grip himself through his pants.
“a pretty bad storm’s blown through the city, there’s no way i can come back home tonight.” soobin sighs, snapping taehyun’s wandering attention back to the conversation in hand. “besides, as bad as it makes me feel, i can’t miss this conference. the ceo is going to be there; my entire job depends on this stupid presentation. i’m so nervous i feel like i’m gonna be sick… “
“tyunnie….” you mewl into his neck, tearing his attention back to you. your voice was honeyed and dripping with desperation, sugary sweet whimpers and whines tugging at taehyun’s belly deliciously. so pathetic, erotic, and debauched… better than any pornstar he’s ever heard. he can’t tear his eyes away from your drippy cunt and it’s hypnotic movements against him, the way he could see you getting wetter and wetter through your soaked little boy shorts. “it hurts so bad, feels so empty— need to get bred, please, just give me your cock!”
“holy shit, she sounds so slutty…” soobin sighs wistfully, just as distracted by you as taehyun was. “god, what i wouldn’t give to be back home right now… why aren’t you taking care of my baby? she’s asking so nicely, using her words like i taught her to— do you not want to help her?”
taehyun splutters, shamefully unable to force himself to stop you when you paw at the bulge in his pants, pretty watery eyes looking up at him wantonly; for a frightening moment, taehyun wondered if you could somehow read his mind.
“i-i mean, yes, i do— but. um.” the sensation of your wet hot tongue lazily swiping across his jawline makes his entire body jolt, his erection twitching against your squeezing hand. he chokes on a moan, instead squeaking oddly into the receiver. “s-she’s your hybrid, hyung. you would be better for her anyway, are you sure you don’t want to just wait until you get back..?”
“i’m saying it’s okay, aren’t i? she can’t wait that long. take care of her for me, i’ll be home tomorrow.”
︶⊹︶︶୨୧︶︶⊹︶
taehyun’s never felt this dirty in his life. your wagging tail brushes against his abs as he pounds you over the armrest, your face mashed into the couch cushions by his broad hand pushing down on the back of your head. your floppy ears bounce along with your tits with his thrusts, your plump ass smacking loud and wet against his hipbones. there’s so much slick that it drips down both of your legs to the floor, a puddle forming at your feet. his other hand grips tightly on your meaty thigh, holding your leg up to get his thick fat cock impossibly deeper inside of your tight, gushing little pussy. your sopping shorts and panties dangle uselessly from your ankle.
“you like it like this, huh?” taehyun spits, his words rough and choppy with exertion. “ass up, face down like an animal? nasty whore. breeding bitch.”
“yesyesyes!” you wail in rapture, voice muffled against the cushion. “breed me, breed me! wan’ your cum, tyunnie, please!”
taehyun’s eyes roll back in pleasure and he curses under his breath. “fuck, you want me to cum inside? fill that pussy up? you’re so fucking tight, sucking me in… been needing this cock so bad, huh?”
his bulbous cockhead rams into your cervix deliciously, making you squeal and shake. the gummy walls of your pussy pulsate around him, letting out nasty squelches as he thrusts into you maniacally. you’ve barely begun yet taehyun is already embarrassingly close to his climax, your cunt so warm and wet and just begging for him to shoot his load deep inside.
you manage to turn your head to the side despite the pressure of his hand, and taehyun can see that both your face and the couch is soaking wet. you’re crying and drooling, pink tongue stuck out as you pant and moan. you’ve never reminded him more of a dog.
“you’re gonna make me cum!” you shriek, eyes blown wide as you gaze back at him. “i’m gonna cum, feels so good, don’t stop! cum with me, tyunnie, please please please? fill my pussy up with your babies, and then we can do it again, and again.. and daddy can join when he comes home! does that sound good, tyunnie?”
god, taehyun would like nothing more.

We're sitting at the table I'm glaring at them. These heroes ("The Big Three" as they are known in the industry) are questioning me? ME? They're questioning ME???
These motherfuckers made me come to the Cape Crusaders big, tacky mansion to justify my actions to them?
The thing that pisses me off the most about their reservations is the fact that what I do IS SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than anything they could possibly do. These idiots just punch bad guys in the face and send them to prison, just so they can escape and start the cycle over from scratch.
I've already saved so many more lives than they ever will. I've made more of a positive impact on this planet than anyone will ever know.
Because my power is to stop disasters, and the most effective way to do that is to prevent them.
No one knows how many wars I've stopped before they began, how many diseases I found vaccines for before they became epidemics, how many cities and countries I've helped create infrastructure for so they could avoid being over run by natural disasters.
And my job is made even more difficult than it sounds because no one can truly fathom how bad things would be if I don't use my powers. I have to fight ppl tooth and nail to get it anything to happen because they don't know how bad it'll be if it's not acted on.
No one sees what I see. They don't feel what I feel. They'll never know the particular ache in my chest that somehow has has an entire narrative wrapped in it whenever a potential disaster hits me. An ache that is so powerful that it's made my knees buckle multiple times.
And the feeling doesn't dissipate until the disaster is fully prevented. It means that when I know something needs to be done, I have to make sure it's dealt with, or-
It's destroying me in a way. Doing so much, all the time, with no compensation or recognition.
The heroes at least know about my powers and know that I have nipped a bunch of really bad shit in the bud.
The villains thing has come up before and it's irritating. For years I thought it was because they were lazy and just were angling for help over shit that I didn't have time for, and in the big picture, didn't matter. Asking for even more help than I already provide.
I'm at my limit already.
But looking at these three at this table in this enormous, extravagant kitchen, it hits me how wrong I am.
These heroes don't have my powers. They can't foresee and stop disasters. For all they know, these clowns that rob banks and occasionally attack and murder people, could cause major disasters down the line. I'm not perfect, I can't stop all disasters. I have to sleep and eat and work a fucking day job.
I still feel residual aches from time to time for every disaster I've failed to stop.
They aren't trying to get more free work out of me, they're trying their best to figure out what villains can do major damage in the future.
They're scared.
"So, the way my powers work," I say while leaning back in my chair, "is that at some point, I know something will go from being an issue to a problem to a disaster. I can only intervene when I know it'll be disastrous, otherwise I can't use my powers, it's like they don't exist. Until something goes over the thresh hold of becoming a potential disaster, it's like I have no powers at all."
"How do you know when a disaster is going to happen? Is it like a vision?"
"It's more internal than that- it's like a feeling I guess...I'm not sure how to articulate it."
Huh, no one has ever bothered to ask me anything specific about my powers or the work I do. I don't have a lot of answers if they keep prodding.
"So, yeah, it's not that I'm neutral to villains, it's just all of the ones you guys been dealing with don't-" I yawned "- don't give me that feeling. I'll let you know if it changes."
I put my head in my hands. Fuck, I'm so tired. It's not like I can stop being a hero, I see the alternate world where I don't intervene, I feel it. But I'm so, so tired.
"Go take a nap."
My head shoots up, "What?"
The Masked Crusader (dumb ass name btw, just like his dumbass mansion) says it again, "Go take a nap. I'll make us all dinner. Go use my guest room and pass out for a bit.
Damn it, did I say I was tired out loud? Or was mind reading one of his superpowers? I can't remember, things have been so overwhelming recently, my memory is shot.
"No, the Masked Crusader can't read minds, that's me" Brainiac says.
Oh. Shit. Right.
"We just, we see you burning out, let us support you for once," chimed in the Singing Banshee.
This was not how I was expecting this conversation to go AT ALL.
Banshee continues, "You've got a lot of walls up, probably from years of running yourself into the ground saving thousands of people without any help. So, we're now going to help you."
"That's not a request by the way," the Masked Crusader says as he slides me a glass of water. "We're doing it whether you like it or not."
Shit, I hadn't even realized I was thirsty. Have I drank any water at all today?
And then *BOOM* I get hit with it- the feeling of an impending but preventable disaster. But it's different than any other disasters I "felt" before.
It's me... It's me, in the near future, collapsing and being unable to do anything about, well anything. I won't be able to stop future disasters, hell, I won't be able to function. And the only way to prevent it was to lean on these people.
This is a lot.
I chugged the rest of the water and wiped my mouth.
"Ok, thanks..." I whispered.
It's too much to think about right now. It's too much to feel right now. I'm not used to, I don't know, being taken care of. I don't know how to be supported.
I'll figure out a way to properly navigate this later. Right now I need to lay the hell down.
You're a superhero who specializes exclusively in stopping disasters. The other heroes just don't understand why you need to remain neutral to the villains…

"my little kitten" (18+) agatha harkness x reader word count: 1208 summary: you're her familiar. and what good familiars do when their mistress is tired? warnings: cursing, reader is giving, dom!agatha note: no thoughts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
you've been agatha's familiar for as long as you can remember. you had doubts whether you were even there before agatha summoned you. you just appeared in front of her in the form of a black cat and that's how all your memories began.
you followed her closely, listened attentively to her sarcastic monologues and quietly watched her steal powers from witches. you barely moved your tail when she stepped over lifeless bodies and said something to them if they could understand her. it was always such a strange phrase that if someone else had said it, it would’ve looked as awkward as possible. but agatha always managed to broadcast without any awkwardness, and it didn't matter whether she was serious or did it just for fun.
“how exhausting it all is,” she sits down in an armchair and closes her eyes, a heavy sigh escapes her lips, which sounded so theatrical, “it's hard to be the greatest witch, isn't it?”
you’re silent – you sit on the floor in front of her and only tilt your head slightly to the side, carefully watching her actions. she looks tired today, even more than usual, and the sarcasm that leaves her mouth doesn’t seem familiar.
“this silence annoys me,” she whispers softly and looks around the room as if hoping to hear at least someone's voice, but nothing in response, as always, “come here.”
you lower your gaze and twitch your ear, as if you're thinking about something, but it all stays in your mind. you get up from your seat and take a step towards her – the next moment she clicks her fingers loudly, once again turning you into a human being.
you stop and already want to reach for the blanket on the couch to cover your sudden nakedness, but she shakes her head, beckoning you to her.
“I'm tired,” she says with a small grin and you immediately understand what she's getting at. her voice is firm, leaving no room for questions “you'll get dressed later.”
“as you wish, my witch,” you nod, the corners of your lips lift slightly. you could never refuse her, and you didn't want to. what's the point if everything was fine with you?
you approach her slowly and kneels in front of her. agatha spreads her legs automatically, giving you more space and you involuntarily lick your lower lip under her attentive gaze. your hands slide up her waist to the buttons of her shirt, unbuttoning slowly, as if testing her patience, to which she just shakes her head.
“teaser,” she whispers when you take off her shirt. your lips immediately find her collarbone, gently kissing and going down to her bra, which she helps you take off so that you don't get too distracted from your direct duties.
the bra falls to the floor and you pull away from her hot skin for a couple of seconds, examining her plump breasts, as if for the first time. and who wouldn't want to prolong such a pleasure?
you lick your lips again and take her nipple in your mouth, greedily sucking and nibbling. agatha's soft sighs reach your ears that make your own stomach flips in warmth. the witch immediately sinks to the back of the chair and tilts her head back. you know she's pleased. you had a long time to understand how to work so that your mistress can relax.
you pull away again just to do the same with her other breast – you want to feel her nipple harden under your tongue, you want to feel her chest rise while you work so hard.
it's already difficult for you to delay pleasure and act slowly. your hands go under her skirt and you feel the waistband of her panties, immediately pulling them down. agatha spreads her legs even wider and moans faintly when your fingers touch her clit.
“you're wet,” you notice with a grin and shove your fingers between her folds, feeling how they pass through her crotch right to her entrance without any problems, “are you so tired, mistress?”
“one more word and you'll become a cat,” she grumbles, but it's enough for you to bite your tongue and continue to take her nipple in your mouth.
the last thing you wanted was to watch from the sidelines as agatha relaxes herself on her own. It was annoying, infuriating, and made you feel unnecessary. but agatha needed you, didn't she?
you frown a little at her threat – you want to do something, you want to show her that you’re brave enough to do something she wouldn’t like, but you’re not. you slowly push your finger inside of her, feeling her walls envelop it, and her body tenses for a moment, just to relax finally. you swallow and carefully begin to move inside her, pushing further and deeper, your lips moving to her neck, leaving barely noticeable hickeys. you know she'll be mad at you later, but right now all you want to do is feel like she's really yours.
agatha breathes heavily, her hand strokes your back roughly and she whispers words of praise to you, forcing you to add another finger, and the rhythm becomes faster. you can feel her back arching and she instinctively moves her hips towards you.
“you feel so good, mistress”, you feel so needy of her as you whisper it, but you can’t hold back even after she threatens you.
“be quite for me,” she groans and grabs your chin with her free hand and pulls you closer. she kisses you greedily, scratching your lips with her teeth, and her tongue intertwines with yours. you don't even notice how you start moaning into her lips, as if her long fingers are stretching you now, and not the other way around.
she abruptly pushes you away from her and nods down, her cheeks are red, and her breath is knocked out when she whispers “down", and you don't ask questions. you nod intensely, lower yourself down, leaving ragged kisses on her stomach when you drastically and even nervously lift her skirt even higher.
a strangled moan escapes from her lips when you finally bury yourself in her crotch, your tongue quickly caresses her clit and you feel her salty juice remaining on your chin.
“bitch,” she hisses through her teeth and you start to work faster with your tongue, feeling her body begin to tremble. she grabs you by the hair with force and pulls you closer to her, “don’t you dare to stop…”
and then you feel how she starts to tremble, and her nails scratch your scalp, forcing you to squint in pain. a hoarse moan fills the room as she bites her lip and you feel like you get dizzy, but it feels so good to the point where you can’t stop. she's panting heavily while you keep kissing her clit, your hands caress her thighs, scratching her pale skin slightly.
“my little kitten...” she finally says with some strange warmth and pats you on the head. you slowly pull away from her, her sly gaze is still fixed on you and she casually wipes your chin from her sticky juice, “what would I do without you, huh?”

The uncertainty of coexistence
Ambessa Medarda x fem!reader
Summary: Can a warrior become the object of her general's affection?
Warning: mentions of war, typical canon violence, big age difference (reader is in her 20s and Ambessa is in her 50s), power imbalance
Word Count: 1,5K
ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE.
Tumblr media
To be born in Noxus was to be certain that one way or another you would end up on the battlefield. Without knowing the reason or purpose, a Noxian would do what your generals told you to do. To honor your blood and ancestry. It was better to be a warrior than a slave or a prostitute. That's what you think, at least.
You had never been to war, though. It had been less than three years since you had become a warrior. Because you were inexperienced, the higher-ranking officers were more harsh on you and the younger ones.
The training sessions led by Rictus were tiring, but they were intended to prepare you for the imminent war that your general was preparing.
Your general, Ambessa Medarda. Lady of War. You had only seen her up close a few times, but it was enough for you to know that she was impressive.
You turned your attention back to what you were doing when you felt a strong blow to your ribs, making you gasp and fall to the ground. Shooting a irritated look at Carissa, your friend and training partner, you stood up, grabbing your stick.
"We're not at war yet and I'm not the enemy, you don't need to use so much force." you complained.
"I didn't use much force." she smiled smugly. "You're weak."
You almost raised your eyebrows at her teasing, then looked out of the small training cabin, seeing Rictus distracted with his runic tablets. Taking the opportunity, you ran and threw yourself at Carissa, making a dry noise on the floor, then tried to grab her hands, which proved difficult as she began to struggle, the smug look still present on her smiling face.
"Do you surrender?" you asked, letting out a low chuckle. She let out a louder chuckle when you managed to grab one of her hands.
Distracted by your play, you didn't notice the familiar sound of heavy boots behind you, at the entrance to the cabin.
"It gives me great pleasure to see the youth of Noxus rejoice in being a part of my army." the authoritative voice spoke, causing both of you to freeze momentarily.
Quickly standing up, you lowered your head, looking down at your bare feet on the wooden floor, you saw Carissa doing the same out of the corner of your eye.
"General." you both spoke at the same time, your voices sounding shaky.
Ambessa walked in, approaching and stopping near the two of you, her heavy presence silencing the entire room. She exuded a dark power without having to do anything.
"Don't stop, go back to playing, we have plenty of time." she spoke again, her voice vibrating closer. "Isn't it?"
You swallowed hard, your hands starting to sweat. Ambessa was known for her determination and violence, she had no patience for mistakes and distractions. A thought about that ran through your head and made you breathe heavily.
She walked a few steps, starting to circle around the two of you. She stopped next to Carissa and tilted her head down.
"Out," she ordered, her voice sounding colder.
Carissa swallowed and nodded, leaving without another word. Ambessa walked a few more steps, stopping in front of you, making you feel smaller than ever, in every way.
You felt your face being held and lifted by a large hand, Ambessa looked at you for a moment before letting go of your chin.
"You looked intimate the way you were riding her." she spoke again. "I suppose I don't need to advise you on the hazards of professional entanglements."
"I sincerely apologize, General. It won't happen again." you said, your voice sounding small.
Ambessa looked down from above, let out a satisfied sigh, and left.
Tumblr media
You grunted as you delivered two consecutive blows with the blade to the inanimate doll's neck. Carissa was no longer your training partner. Now you trained individually in the training room that had the worn-out wooden dolls.
Sighing, you pulled out the large blade of the knife that had stuck in the wood. As you stepped away to stab the doll in the stomach, you heard the door open and heavy footsteps enter the training room, followed by the deep voice you had heard from very close by a few days before.
"Haven't they ever told you not to stand with your back to the door?" Ambessa asked and you turned in time to see her pick up one of the large knives that was laid out on a table in the corner.
She wore her training clothes, the sports bra that showed off her toned belly, her arms covered by cloth armbands.
You straightened your posture and tilted your head slightly, "General."
"Leave the doll alone, let's see if you can land your blows on me." she ordered, approaching you.
"Pardon?" you frowned, confused.
"I don't like repeating myself, child," she said, her voice heavier this time. "Fight me."
You swallowed hard, knowing you couldn't disregard her orders. Biting your lower lip in insecurity, you advanced on her, moving the blade in the strokes you were used to making.
All to be knocked to the ground in almost the same second, the blade being ripped from your hand.
"You’re sloppy and predictable. Everything the enemy expects.” Ambessa hovered above you, holding both blades in her hands. “You’ll die the second you step foot in the war.”
She threw the blades to the ground and pulled you up by your arm, before starting to randomly strike you with her hands, making you put your hands in front of your body to defend yourself.
She pulled one of your arms and raised her body, passing her legs over you, hitting your face with her right foot. You fell again, feeling your nose bleed.
Training with her continued for weeks. Weeks where you felt anxious whenever the time to see her approached. At one point, you longed to be near her, her body heavy on yours when she pinned you to the ground while teaching.
Learning from a war veteran proved to be rewarding, as you improved and improved a lot. But no reward compared to seeing her almost every day.
As unbelievable as it may seem, Ambessa was patient at one point, her voice softening as she taught you something you didn't already know.
This made your heart beat faster.
Tumblr media
Your breathing was faster and you could feel your lungs burning, but you couldn't stop. Ambessa's blows didn't slow down, she advanced violently towards you. Using one of your legs to unbalance her, you used the tip of the spear to make a tiny cut on her cheekbone, making her freeze for a moment.
Realizing what you had done, you opened your mouth to speak and reached out your hand towards her, who stood up on her own and walked towards you, leaving almost no space.
"General, what-" your words were cut off as she brought her large hands to either side of your face and bent over you, capturing your lips in a hungry kiss.
You brought them to her shoulders, sliding them down to the sides of her face. She gave light bites to your jaw and chin as she pulled away from your lips.
"You have a lot of courage for someone your size," she said without pulling away. "You've proven yourself worthy."
"I want you to be proud of me." you blurted out without thinking properly.
She let out a deep laugh and pulled away, taking the heat of her body away from you.
"You left a scar on me, that is honorable," she said, pulling the gold piercing from her lower lip. "Someone honorable should wear a symbol, a symbol that shows they are on my side."
She approached you again and fitted the gold piece to your lower lip, running one of her thick fingers over it.
After that day, you no longer stood among the other warriors. Ambessa allowed you to walk beside her, as Rictus. You proudly wore the gold piercing on your lower lip.
At the moment, on her orders, the army was moving from the fixed base to Viktor's hideout, crossing the unguarded bridge that connected the Noxian installations to the rest of Piltover. Of course she wasn't going to blend in.
You turned your face and looked down, seeing how far the bridge was from the water. A fall wouldn't kill, but drowning was imminent.
You turned your attention forward when you felt Ambessa's large hand on your waist, making you look at her with a frown, to which she continued with the same stoic expression as always, looking forward.
Suddenly, you felt the thud on your legs and your body being thrown out of the limits of the bridge, the only thing that kept you from falling was the large hand that held only one of yours.
Eyes wide with surprise and despair you looked up, finding Ambessa's sharp eyes staring at you coldly. She didn't say anything for a moment, the sound of the water below was the only thing present, as the army had stopped marching.
"What-" you groaned, feeling your arm start to ache, your legs swinging slightly. "Please."
"I warned you of the hazards of professional entanglements." she said simply, her voice devoid of any emotion.
You froze, feeling your chest hurt. But of course. How could you have been so stupid?
A warrior does not grow like this in the eyes of their general.
With your delay in responding, Ambessa stared at you for a while longer before pulling you up, leaving you hanging on your own, struggling to climb up the bridge.
When you managed to get up, you were breathing quickly, your heart was beating fast and she had already started walking again, with her army following her.

Not an allergy but a hypersensitivity. Up until a few months ago I couldn't have chilli because it would make it really difficult for me to breathe (I'm not talking about regular spicy food throat tingles I'm talking about felt like a panic attack, day ruining, made my throat so swollen that id have to have antihistamines). We used to specify not to put chilli in my orders, check that it didn't have chilli already on it, etc. In one restaurant they were less than impressed when we mentioned that it was a hypersensitivity cos it sounds pretentious as fuck and they actually ADDED chilli to a pizza that wasn't even meant to have it on it (it was a cheese and tomato pizza. Plain. Completely. It's not hard to mess up). My mum had to run upstairs to get me an antihistamine because my throat hurt so bad I couldn't move or talk and it felt like my airways were blocked even though they weren't, ended up missing a full day of our holiday because I was waiting for my breathing to get back to normal. From that point on started telling waiters it was an allergy so they'd take it more seriously. Messing with peoples orders isn't funny and it isn't clever fucking check yourself.

If you work in a movie theater and you do this I have no respect for you.
My younger brother is Type 1 Diabetic.
When we go to a movie theater, we always get him diet soda. If he were to get regular when we asked for diet, we would not give him the insulin he would need for it. If that happens, his blood sugar level could go so high he could go into a coma, go blind, or even die.
If somebody gave him regular soda instead of diet without telling us, that person could be responsible for a nine-year-old being killed or blinded.
Just thinking about that makes me so angry. I get scared every time we take him to a movie in case the people working there saw this picture and decide to do the same thing.
Please signal boost this so people know.

actually i'm still thinking about the moral orel finale.
Tumblr media
he has a cross on his wall. do you know how much i think about that bc it's a lot.
a lot of stories ((auto)biographical or fictional) centering escape from abusive/fundamentalist christianity result in the lead characters leaving behind christianity entirely. and that makes complete sense! people often grow disillusioned with the associated systems and beliefs, and when it was something used to hurt them or something so inseparable from their abuse that they can't engage with it without hurting, it makes total sense that they would disengage entirely. and sometimes they just figure out that they don't really believe in god/a christian god/etc. a healthy deconstruction process can sometimes look like becoming an atheist or converting to another religion. it's all case by case. (note: i'm sure this happens with other religions as well, i'm just most familiar with christian versions of this phenomenon).
but in orel's case, his faith was one of the few things that actually brought him comfort and joy. he loved god, y'know? genuinely. and he felt loved by god and supported by him when he had no one else. and the abuses he faced were in how the people in his life twisted religion to control others, to run away from themselves, to shield them from others, etc. and often, orel's conflicts with how they acted out christianity come as a direct result of his purer understanding of god/jesus/whatever ("aren't we supposed to be like this/do that?" met with an adult's excuse for their own behavior or the fastest way they could think of to get orel to leave them alone (i.e. orel saying i thought we weren't supposed to lie? and clay saying uhhh it doesn't count if you're lying to yourself)). the little guy played catch with god instead of his dad, like.. his faith was real, and his love was real. and i think it's a good choice to have orel maintain something that was so important to him and such a grounding, comforting force in the midst of. All That Stuff Moralton Was Up To/Put Him Through. being all about jesus was not the problem, in orel's case.
and i know i'm mostly assuming that orel ended up in a healthier, less rigid version of christianity, but i feel like that's something that was hinted at a lot through the series, that that's the direction he'd go. when he meditates during the prayer bee and accepts stephanie's different way to communicate, incorporating elements of buddhism into his faith; when he has his I AM A CHURCH breakdown (removing himself from the institution and realizing he can be like,, the center of his own faith? taking a more individualistic approach? but Truly Going Through It at the same time), his acceptance (...sometimes) of those who are different from him and condemned by the adults of moralton (stephanie (lesbian icon stephanie my beloved), christina (who's like. just a slightly different form of fundie protestant from him), dr chosenberg (the jewish doctor from otherton in holy visage)). his track record on this isn't perfect, but it gets better as orel starts maturing and picking up on what an absolute shitfest moralton is. it's all ways of questioning the things he's been taught, and it makes sense that it would lead to a bigger questioning as he puts those pieces together more. anyway i think part of his growth is weeding out all the lost commandments of his upbringing and focusing on what faith means to him, and what he thinks it should mean. how he wants to see the world and how he wants to treat people and what he thinks is okay and right, and looking to religion for guidance in that, not as like. a way to justify hurting those he's afraid or resentful of, as his role models did.
he's coming to his own conclusions rather than obediently, unquestioningly taking in what others say. but he's still listening to pick out the parts that make sense to him. (edit/note: and it's his compassion and his faith that are the primary motivations for this questioning and revisal process, both of individual cases and, eventually, the final boss that is christianity.) it makes perfect sense as the conclusion to his character arc and it fits the overall approach of the show far better. it's good is what i'm saying.
and i think it's important to show that kind of ending, because that's a pretty common and equally valid result of deconstruction. and i think it cements the show's treatment of christianity as something that's often (and maybe even easily) exploited, but not something inherently bad. something that can be very positive, even. guys he even has a dog he's not afraid of loving anymore. he's not afraid of loving anyone more than jesus and i don't think it's because he loves this dog less than bartholomew (though he was probably far more desperate for healthy affection and companionship when he was younger). i think it's because he figures god would want him to love that dog. he's choosing to believe that god would want him to love and to be happy and to be kind. he's not afraid of loving in the wrong way do you know how cool that is he's taking back control he's taking back something he loves from his abusers im so normal
#i had a really big fundie snark phase a year or two ago so that's part of like. this. but im still not used to actually talking about#religious stuff so if it reads kinda awkwardly uhh forgive me orz idk#maybe it sounds dumb but i like that the message isn't 'religion is evil'. it easily could have been. but i think the show's points about#how fundie wasp culture in particular treats christianity and itself and others would be less poignant if they were like. and jesus sucks#btw >:] like. this feels more nuanced to me. i guess there's probably a way to maintain that nuance with an ultimately anti-christian#piece of media but i think it'd be like. wayy harder and it's difficult for me to imagine that bc i think a lot of it would bleed out into#the tone. + why focus on only These christians when They're All also bad? so you'd get jokes about them in general#and i think that's kinda less funny than orel and doughy screaming and running from catholics lsdkjfldksj#i think the specificity makes it more unique and compelling as comedy and as commentary. but that's just me#like moralton represents a very particular kind of christian community (namely a middle class fundie wasp nest)#you're not gonna be able to get in the weeds as much if you're laughing at/criticizing all christians. but they accomplish it so thoroughly#and WELL in morel and i think that's because it chose a smaller target it can get to dissect more intimately. anyway#moral orel#orel puppington#(OH also when i say wasp here i mean WASP the acronym. as in white anglo-saxon protestsant. in case the term's new to anyone <3)#maybe it's also relevant to say that i'm kindaaaaaaaa loosely vaguely nonspecifically christian. so there's my bias revealed#i was never raised like orel but i like to think i get some of what's going on in there y'know. in that big autistic head of his#but it's not like i can't handle anti-christian/anti-religious media/takes. i'm a big boy and also i v much get why it's out there yknow#christianity in specific has a lot of blood on its hands from its own members and from outsiders and people have a right to hate it for tha#but religion in all its forms can be positive and i appreciate the nuance. like i've said around 20 times. yeah :) <3#(<- fighting for my life to explain things even though my one job is to be the explainer)

No, I don't feel that way. I'm having fun with the game overall! I think the combat is engaging & the characters are great. The cc is truly phenomenal. The environments are gorgeous. The humor is fun and it has moved me emotionally many times! I've put so many hours into the game already. I just want to preface that I don't hate this game because I'm about to do a lot of critiquing.
With that said, I feel like EA ruined the development/pushed for it to be a little bit more vanilla (imo) so that it would bring in new players. Which is why the game feels a bit disconnected from the world & established lore.
I have a problem with having choices presented as important & world-changing in previous games only to not matter all that much in this game. I get that there are a lot of branching choices which makes it difficult to balance player choice with in-game canon. But I think there's a better solution than just saying "well this is years later and a different part of the world so none of the choices you previously made matter." It feels a bit like a cop-out and results in a lot of aspects of this game feeling a tad watered-down.
Again, I don't blame the developers, I'd be willing to bet that a lot of these critiques I have come down to EA and what they wanted the game to be. It's frustrating to see the potential.
Also this is nothing to do with the quality of the game, I just have to rant. I really hate the name "The Veilguard". I remember when it was announced everyone was so confused. I and a lot of other people at the time thought it wasn't DA4, but like a new side game or book or something. I think Dreadwolf was much more of a bold title and represents the main thrust of the game better. "The Veilguard" feels very disconnected from the story, imo. I think it sounds clunky. I think even "Dragon Age Veilguard" would've been ok, I just don't know why they decided to throw "the" in there. Fast and Furious ass-naming conventions for this game series 😭
I've witnessed a non-zero amount of people express this sentiment, so now I gotta ask the wider Dragon Age fandom
*Critical reviews here imply actual thoughtful analysis, I do not count grifters because they offer no valid commentary

i'm now looking at my list of least favorite french words to pronounce and going "too many r's" for about 40% of them and "skill issue" for most of the rest. some of these are actually very fun to pronounce i just couldn't wrap my tongue around them a year or so ago, but now i can i guess??? so that's very exciting. makes me hope that someday i'll be able to pronounce the rest of them. this is a bit pie in the sky because i really don't see myself ever getting there with procureur du roi but you never know. and luckily the french abolished the monarchy so it's not like i'll ever have to use that phrase in modern conversation.
anyway here are the words i actually love pronouncing now: décaféiné diététicien filleul pneumonie
i now feel normal/neutral about these words that used to be hard for me: automne, condamner douloureux électricité, énergie inférieur, supérieur, etc. itinéraire lourdeur salmonellose sclérose subodorer succincte
words that are definitely within the realm of my current capability but i haven't practiced them enough: bugle hiérarchisation méditerranéen phtisie
words that are still the bane of my existence but i live in hope: [yʁ] plus at least one other r or [y] sound: chirurgie, fourrure, marbrure, moirure, nourriture, ordures, peinturlurer, procureur du roi, prurit, purpurin, sculpture, serrurerie, structure, sulfureux, tournure all words beginning with ur-, hur-, or sur- other difficult sequence of r's and vowels: construire and other -truire verbs; lueur and sueur; utérus too many r's: marbre, martre, meurtre, opprobre, proroger, réfrigérateur, rétrograde, rorqual difficult sequence of vowels and/or semivowels: coopérant, extraordinaire, hémorroïdal, kyrie eleison, météorologique, micro-ordinateur, micro-organisme, mouillure, quatuor, vanillier not pronounced the way i would expect from the spelling: indemne, penta-, punk just hard for some reason: humour
#girl you didn't like filleul????? get well soon damn#the french love writing about linden trees (tilleuls) so i've now had tons of practice with that sequence of sounds and love it#all the words that are hard for some reason other than r sounds is just a skill issue. and it makes sense because a lot of them are#not common words so when would i even be practicing them?#the words that are hard because of r sounds is also a skill issue but that's one that i don't know i will be able to fix through practice#i think i have maybe plateaued with my r sounds lol. but you never know!#bugle is a funky word. i want to love it. someday i will.#you'd think i would have méditerranéen down by now since it is a pretty common word. but it still trips me up. i'll get there#sur- words are bad because i just end up whistling the s?? i think i'm pronouncing the [y] too forward in the mouth#i just looked at my ladefoged and he's like 'rounding lowers the second formant so [y] sounds like it's between [i] and [u]'#but i think i'm trying too hard to get it really close to [i] and maybe overcompensating for the formant drop#and actually pronouncing [y] MORE forward in the mouth than [i]? that's my guess#french#fun with pronunciation#my posts#i deleted a couple words from the list if i couldn't remember why they were hard. filtre? what's so bad about filtre...#yeah folklore is a little weird in french but it's not like putting an l before a k is phonotactically illegal it's just unusual#and not at all difficult for an anglophone ultimately#lubrifiant? idk why i would have felt strongly enough about lubrifiant to go back in my drafts several pages to add it to the post#the rest of these though i can explain. électricité and énergie were hard because my mouth just automatically wanted to pronounce#the second vowel as é as well#automne and condamner were hard because you don't nasalize the vowel before the m AND you don't pronounce the m#these are now so normal to me that i can't get myself to remember the pronunciation of indemne (in which the m IS pronounced)

Honestly I'm also not fully happy with what they did with Whis this book
#morningtalks#asc spoilers#Not like they gave Whistlepaw a lot of screentime at all despite how relevant WindClan was all of a sudden#(nooooo that had to go to Crowfeather. Not like he's got enough attention with TNP + PO3 + his super edition + deputyship + TBC#+ Changing Skies now too. Noooooooooooooooooooo we really can't have a single other cat in WindClan be important)#At least Whis had an excuse. Making Additional Content for another book that readers have to buy and be USELESS in that book#But Whistlebreeze?#Out of all the fun names you could've chosen. Whistlebreeze?#At least it's not Whistlepelt or Whistleheart#But really? Whistlebreeze?#I find it boring honestly#It's obviously a me thing. I'm obviously going to take Whis' name more seriously than most because I draw that damned cat Every Single Day#But there were so many possibilities for really poetic and pretty names#But they stuck with the simple option. Whistlebreeze#I obviously wanted Whistlebird#But with Ivypool's Therapy Session you could've made an argument for Whistlestorm#Even if it doesn't sound good at all. The two 't' s really don't make for a good name#But it would've been better than Whistlebreeze as far as I'm concerned#-breeze as a suffix can be cute and I like it but it has little to do with Whis aside from WindClan#Whistlebird neither but it sounds fun and has a rare suffix#Obviously Whistlefrost would've been hilarious#Heck. I just thought about Whistlecreek. Kinda odd but could be a more discrete hommage to Frostdawn as a RiverClan cat#(Frostdawn is a good name tho. Pissed she's back to being a healer but Frostdawn is good at least)#I also love the -berry suffix but with Berryheart just being a nuisance it would've been a very stupid decision here#But I'm just annoyed that they went with Whistlebreeze. It's boring. It's kinda pretty yeah but it adds nothing#It says ''Whis is a WindClan cat.''#Whistle- is a hard prefix to work with. The 't' and 'l' at the end makes it nearly impossible for a good amount of suffixes#Because they wouldn't sound good. (Any occlusive or lateral would've been horrendous. That's why Whistlelight sounds bad. Too many L's)#Whistlebreeze does sound nice at least but again it's bland and I am disappointed and really they could've done so much#With this name. Whistle is a difficult prefix but it offers so much poetic potential

I might argue that that's the thing that's more tilting for a lot of people, at least for people who aren't good at video games. I think it's fair to say that being bad at a video game is frustrating for most people even when every mistake they made was 100% their fault, and I'm not sure it's not more frustrating that way. People like feeling Skilled and dislike feeling Unskilled. If you're playing Overwatch and you get a morbillion kills and still lose, that's definitely a frustrating experience, and I expect people to get mad about that and shit talk their teammates or whatever, but there is at least the consoling thought of "Well, it wasn't my fault. I was Skilled." Self esteem remains undamaged, and then you keep playing because you figure you're good enough to win the next one if your team just doesn't suck so much. But when someone plays League, it's much more difficult to blame anything but your own lack of skill, which ironically causes much more Cope. (And it doesn't help that League is also kind of a snowball-y game, it's easy to make a few dumb mistakes at the beginning and be left at a disadvantage for a really long time as you struggle to catch up.)
In short, it sounds to me like you have a healthier relationship with video games and your own self esteem than most people.
this is neither here nor there but i personally found overwatch infinitely more tilting to play than league (or deadlock, which is what i started playing after league). & the reason for that is that games with itemization/level mechanics always, at least in theory, allow for a world in which you personally played well enough to swing the match. obvsies there's a lot of cases where that situation would never ever have happened with your current skill level, but it makes it a lot easier to come away from a bad game thinking "hmm, well, if i'd kept up my CS i would have been able to itemize against their tank and kept him in check..." or whatever--whereas overwatch is so profoudnly team-dependent and has no such mechanics (meaning numbers advantages are much more directly and insurmountably connected to winning or losing fights) so sometimes if one or more of your teammates are bad enough they can straight up make the game unwinnable for you

Our perception of reality will always be warped by the lenses we view it through. I mean that 100% literally, I've got multiple mirrors in my bathroom and I just realized that one of them makes my face visibly rounder than the others do. That's so fucking weird.

#altough it got better in a way my self confidence is still so bad :(#some days it's worse than others it changes with my mood or idk#just lately i have been feeling kinda down about myself#i just have never been this naturally confident person and i feel like i'm not enough or not doing enough a lot at times :/#when i was younger it was even worse and i thought of myself that no guy would ever like me bc i'm so not good looking#obviously that was not true and guys do like me and i would not go that far anymore but often i look at myself and think average at best#even though that might not even be true and sometimes i like what i look like in a mirror but i think to myself just good lighting or sth#and so often when i see a bad picture of myself i feel so ashamed like i'd just wish i looked differently#and when guys tell me i'm pretty or also other people i find it so difficult to believe that like i don't see that in myself#but it does not make a sense i know others don't think of me like that also guys i think of as a attractive but i don't see myself like that#but it's not just that i often also feel doubtful i will ever achieve much#i always think i should be finished with uni already or have better grades#and mostly that i'm not smart enough in general#but my grades are not even bad and i'm not failing any classes#like i just got another a in that class (i'm actually really happy about that one) but then i think okay but some people have all a's#like i could do better i could study harder#unfortunately i'm a master of procrastination as well and quite good at lol#what i mean is that i manage to study very little compared to others and still get good grades - sounds good but keeps me lazy 😅#and i also think when i achieve a good grade often that i don't deserve it that much because i could have studied more#and that i just got lucky which is not very rational i know 😅#or once i actually just passed an exam (i studied the night before) and i though yeah the teacher just felt sorry for me and let me pass#realistically i don't think it was like that#and at uni i studied for big exams which were feared by students for 2 days and got a b#which should indicate i'm somewhat smart but i think i just know the right study techniques and got lucky again#altough i do know good study techniques i think :))#buuut sometimes i do things which are so dumb like i do have these moments my mind is going like blank#and it's not difficult things even#like in football we did this exercise of a series of passes and everyone got it but me until a few tries like how is this harder#i'm just kind of bad at envisioning like this series 3 dimensionally in my mind idk i usually get it once i do it and remember the movement#what it feels like

I don't think Mai saving Zuko's life and putting herself at risk of being killed by Azula is simply "Saving the jerk who dumped me", that's more how she dryly responds the guards when they ask. I don't find it likely Mai would have responded with something mushy. As for her being bitter about the break up, that's quite understandable. She spent most of Book 3 trying to put some sort of work into the relationship, such as in Nightmares and Daydreams where she repeatedly tries to cheer him up. Of course, instead of speaking to her in person to get her to understand an understanding Zuko himself has only recently come to, Zuko never has the conversation with her.
Mai: "All I get is a letter? You could have at least looked me in the eye when you ripped out my heart."
The letter itself doesn't seem very explanatory. "Dear Mai. I'm sorry you have to find out this way but I'm leaving." So, she demands answers. It's important to remember that Mai was raised in the same culture as Zuko was, she herself has been gaslight and had her emotions disregarded by her own parents in childhood. If Mai hates the world and is apathetic, it would be because of that. But I don't think Mai does hate the world, she doesn't hate Zuko, or Ty Lee, or it seems the people she interacts with generally. Part of her 'hating' things seems to be said in jest, like on the sunset picnic with Zuko. She has only admitted to fearing Azula.
Regardless, after Zuko explains his side of things in the Boiling Rock, Mai chooses him. Zuko talks about creating an era of kindness in the series, and Mai chooses love over fear, rejecting Azula and Fire Nation ideology. An ideology that was demonstrated in Ozai and Zuko's conversation in the Day of Black Sun, where he rejected Ozai and the Fire Nation. The themes intricately link both personal and national motivations. So I think Mai does understand why Zuko turned against the Fire Nation. She doesn't argue that strongly for the Fire Nation in the Boiling Rock because when Zuko speaks with conviction, and passion, it seems she begins to realise the Fire Nation isn't worth it to the point she doesn't even manage the last word in the conversation and goes quiet.
Mai (to Azula): "I guess you just don't know people as well as you think you do. You miscalculated, I love Zuko more than I fear you."
In the end, Mai finds her motivation. Love. Something that seems in short supply in the Fire Nation. And that pushes her to action. I also don't think Katara would even punch her in the throat, because Katara has dealt with apathetic people before and it seems she tends to want to motivate them. Which she doesn't even need to do because Mai already finds her motivation. Ultimately, I doubt Katara would hate Mai, who isn't sadistic nor particularly mocking. Meanwhile Azula languidly traps Aang under rubble, sets fire to the walls around him up his fear and make him struggle more, then slowly walks up to him with a revelling smirk as if savouring the final blow. Katara would hate Azula, which she has demonstrated in canon.
Meanwhile, "Don't ever break up with me again" sounded more like a joke, born out of dry sense of humour, than anything serious considering she smiles and if we are to take comic canon into account she breaks up with him. I have doubts the line in the scene meant Zuko was imprisoned forever and more was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.
Plus, I tend to personally see show canon, written by Bryke, Ehasz and the rest of the Avatar writing team, more difficult to disregard than comics written by another writer that are infamous for being contradicting and butchering characters. I doubt the original intentions of the cartoon and comic really match. Regardless, you are right in that the comics, no matter horribly written are canon, which is a shame for pretty much every character, and Mai isn't alone in being impacted by bad writing (although not unsalvegeable) under Gene Yang. As for that scene at the end, I doubt Mai was there because of Zutara, in canon she's Zuko's girlfriend at that point, it shows a new unity (just like Ty Lee with the Kyoshi Warriors) and it's probably also the writers wanted to make that "I look like a man" joke as fans online had been saying stuff like that at the time because they didn't think Mai was pretty or feminine enough.
"I think Katara would get along with Azula/Mai because female solidarity!"
Cool. I think Katara would punch fascists in the throat.
